Entry Fees Increase Friday

Entry fees for the 2010 Bele Chere 5K increase to $30 on Friday, July 9 at midnight. Registration is well beyond last year's record levels and over 1,600 runners are expected this year.

New Start/Finish Revealed

The Asheville Track Club has slightly modified the start and finish lines of the 2010 Bele Chere to create a more festive and safer atmosphere for runners and spectators. The race will now start and finish on McCormick Place in front of McCormick Field.

Shirt Design Posted

The design for the 2010 Bele Chere 5K can now be seen on the events page. It is a variation of the 2010 festival design.

The shirts are available to the first 1,600 registered racers. As of June 28, race registration is well ahead of the pace set at last year's record setting race of 1,425 runners.

BC 5K Course Receives Certification

The Bele Chere 5K course has received USA Track & Field certification. The newly measured course is about 100 yards longer that in the past putting runners that much closer to McCormick Field.

The certification number is NC-10055-PH.

Asics to Provide Special Race Prizes

Thanks to the help of our friends at Jus Running, Asics will provide 5 pairs of running shoes to random runners at the 2010 Bele Chere 5K Presented by Southeastern Sports Medicine. The 100th, 500th, 1000th, 1426th and 1600th runner completing the race will receive a gift card good for a free pair of Asics running shoes at Jus Running. These will be announced during the awards ceremony following the race inside McCormick Field. Winners must be present to receive their prize.

Asics will also provide door prizes that will also be handed out at the awards ceremony. To enter the drawing, simply drop the stub from your race number in the collection boxes on top of each dugout. Door prizes will include Asics hats, socks and water bottles.

The Asheville Track Club is proud to announce Southeastern Sports Medicine will be the Presenting Sponsor of the 2010 Bele Chere 5K. Long a part of the sports scene in Western North Carolina, Southeastern Sports Medicine provides orthopaedic care to families, students and athletes from across the area. Their team provides treatment and care of exercise and sports related conditions with Medical Doctors, Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Massage Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, and Fitness Programs.

Southeastern Sports Medicine will have a presence at both packet pickup and on race morning at McCormick Field.
