FitFamilies, the Asheville Track Club's latest program, targets busy families desiring a budget-friendly, age-appropriate fitness program suitable for every family member.

For our first season, FitFamilies has partnered with ATC's popular Beginning Runner's Program, which meets at beautiful and flat Carrier Park in West Asheville every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7pm.  While parents/caregivers train for the Bele Chere 5K with their running/walking coaches, the children train for the Bele Chere fun run by playing various running field games.  The soft chip trails and open fields of Carrier Park create the perfect environment for family fitness fun!  Many of our families pack a basket and picnic together, enjoying a healthy meal together after a solid workout!

Come out and see what the buzz is all about!  It's not too late to get ready for Bele Chere.  Beginning Runner's Program : $20/person.  FitFamilies Active Childcare:  price varies according to start.  Email kellyallenasheville@gmail.com for details.
If you are looking for another great road race this fall, the Asheville Track Club also produces the Thomas Wolfe 8K, which starts and finishes in front of the writer's boyhood home.  For race information, click HERE.

RACE DAY

July 24, 2010 - 8 AM

Congratulations to all who participated in this year's race.  We had the second highest registration on record and we are grateful to all who ran, watched and volunteered.  Results are posted below.

The Asheville Track Club welcomes you to the official web site of the largest road race west of Charlotte.  The race continues to set records, registering over 1,400 runners in 2009.  The ATC expects over 1,600 runners to toe the line for our 31st race.

Race headquarters will once again be historic McCormick Field in downtown Asheville.  The course will also remain the same as the past three years giving participants a true Asheville running experience.

In 2010, the ATC will introduce a start pad at the start of the race.  This will allow all runners to receive an accurate time regardless of where they start in the pack.  In an effort to reduce the environmental impact of the race, we will be accepting on-line registrations only.
